Live-streaming startup BeLive Technology bags $4.5m and other SE Asia deals

BeLive Technology, a Singapore-based live-streaming solutions provider, announced raising S$6 million ($4.5 million) in bridge funding that will help finance the development of its AI and machine learning capabilities.

The startup said the funding round was led by fintech, media, education, and mobile startups investor FTAG Ventures. The company’s existing investors include Singapore’s Mediacorp and current Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin.

BeLive started its live streaming journey as a mobile application in 2014. It allows websites or apps to broadcast live video with interactive elements, including live virtual gifting, games, live shopping, and more.

On its website, the startup said it has powered brands such as Zalora, Rakuten Group, and Bukalapak, operating from three locations – Singapore, Vietnam, and Shenzhen. To this date, BeLive Technology said it has delivered 3.3 billion minutes of live video to over 100 million viewers worldwide.

“We’re in the midst of a direct-to-consumer revolution, with live video omnipresent in every brand’s customer engagement strategy,” said co-founder and CEO Kenneth Tan.

The fresh funds will also be used to raise the company’s headcount to 100 and further expand in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.

SG startup Sesto Robotics scores $5.7m funding

Sesto Robotics, a Singapore-based autonomous technology solutions startup, announced raising $5.7 million in fresh funding from early-stage venture investors TRIVE and SEEDS Capital and Germany’s WTI GmbH.

The fresh funding will be used to enhance Sesto’s capability to support its overseas partners, according to the announcement. The company also plans to invest part of the capital in digital marketing.

Sesto Robotics, formerly a business division of HOPE Technik, a Singapore-based engineering firm that builds drones and firefighting robots, said it will also continue to invest in developing its autonomous mobile robots (AMR) capabilities and extend the line-up of AMR applications.

The company engineers and delivers robotics solutions to global clients. its AMR and automated guided vehicles are currently used by manufacturing and healthcare companies.

In 2018, Sesto raised a $2.9 million Series A round from Singtel’s VC arm, Singtel Innov8, and Temasek-owned Heliconia Capital Management.
