Tiger Global leads funding in Kutumb and 12 more India deal updates

Bengaluru-based Kutumb, a private social network for communities, has raised $26 million in a Series A funding round led by US investment firm Tiger Global.

According to the company’s latest regulatory filings, it has allotted 2,919 Series A CCPS shares at an issue price of Rs 6.57 lakh to raise the aforesaid amount, Entrackr reported. Tiger Global has invested $18.5 million in the round while Quiet Capital has contributed a little over $3 million.

Other investors in the round included Rocketship VC, Nirman Investments, AL Trust, and angel investor Sujeet Kumar.

Kutumb, operated by Primetrace Technologies, was a part of the fourth cohort of Sequoia’s accelerator programme Surge. It had raised Rs15.5 crore as part of the Surge programme in December last year.

Founded by Abhishek Kejriwal, Vipul Allawadhi, and Naveen Dewangan, Kutumb enables discovery of relevant communities, curated discovery of relevant content, discussions about issues in the community, connections with other community members, and security and moderation within community forums.

In Singapore, we are looking to double our reporting team by this year-end to comprehensively cover the fast-moving world of funded startups and VC, PE & M&A deals. We want reporters who can tell our readers what is really happening in these sectors and why it matters to markets, companies and consumers. The ability to write precisely and urgently is crucial for these roles. Ideal candidates must have to ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and fast-changing environment. We want our new hires to be digitally savvy and ready to experiment with new forms of storytelling. Most importantly, we are looking for hard-hitting reporters who work well in a team. Collaboration and collegiality are a must.

  • A reporter who can get behind the scenes and reveal how funding rounds are put together, or why they’ve failed to materialise. She/he in this role will largely focus on long-format stories. 
  • A journalist to track special situations funds, distressed debt and private credit (from the PE angle) across Asia.
