India Deal Monitor: Treebo Hotels raises $6m funding and more updates

Budget hospitality chain Treebo Hotels has raised $6 million in a fresh funding round led by existing investors, including Matrix Partners India, SAIF Partners, Bertelsmann India Investments, and Ward Ferry.

The hotel chain plans to use the funding proceeds to build technology products for its business, per media reports.

The funding for Treebo comes almost three years after it had raised $34 million in a Series C round of funding led by Hong Kong-based investment firm Ward Ferry Management and Karst Peak Capital. Prior to that, it had raised a total of $23 million over two rounds from SAIF Partners, Matrix Partners India and Bertelsmann India Investments.

Treebo was founded in March 2015 by IIT Roorkee alumni Rahul Chaudhary, Sidharth Gupta and Kadam Jeet Jain. At present, it has a portfolio of over 600 hotels in 100 cities.
